STAY IN A TINY HOUSE
A TINY HOUSE IN NATURE, BETWEEN SEA AND LAND
Experience the benefits of living small: more peace, less clutter, and a more mindful way of enjoying life. Our tiny houses combine minimalist and circular design, sustainable choices, and smart solutions with the comfort of staying in the heart of nature.
What makes staying in a tiny house so special?
A stay in a tiny house at ONS BUITEN is an experience where nature, comfort, and mindful living come together. You stay in a place where peace, space, and outdoor living take centre stage.
Start your day with a good coffee in the indoor common area, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, and discover everything this unique place has to offer. The tiny houses are located on a nature-rich site where ecological development is at the heart of everything. Campsites, cabins, cottages, and studios together create a relaxed outdoor experience.
For extra relaxation, you can enjoy the pool & wellness area, and with a rental bike you can easily explore the Walcheren region. Located on the edge of the coastal village of Oostkapelle, ONS BUITEN combines the tranquillity of nature with the nearby beach, sea, and the unique character of Zeeland.
What facilities are available?
The tiny houses, also known as BUITENSTUDIOs, are compact yet surprisingly complete. Each studio features a cosy sleeping and living area with a comfortable double bed and extra-long mattresses for a restful night's sleep.
The kitchenette is equipped with a refrigerator, Nespresso coffee machine, and a two-burner cooktop, making it easy to prepare a simple meal. Every BUITENSTUDIO also includes a private bathroom with a shower and toilet.
One of the most special features is the connection to nature. From your bed, you can look through the large panoramic window and wake up surrounded by greenery. It offers the comfort of your own private space, with nature always within reach.
How many people can stay?
A BUITENSTUDIO accommodates up to two people. The circularly made bed consists of two separate mattresses that cannot be moved apart. A baby up to two years old is welcome as an additional guest in the double bed. There is no space for an extra bed or cot in the studio.
If you prefer a more back-to-basics stay, a POD (coming online soon) or a TREKKER'S CABIN is also an option. The trekker's cabins accommodate up to five people and feature two bunk beds and a separate single bed in the shared sleeping area. The PODs accommodate up to two people and include a small double bed.
What is there to do in the area?
ONS BUITEN is located on the edge of the coastal village of Oostkapelle, in a peaceful setting close to both the sea and nature. The beach is just 2.5 kilometres away and can be reached by bike in approximately 10 minutes.
The surrounding area offers plenty to explore. Within a short cycling distance, you'll find Het Kaslokaal, a charming tea garden and lunch café, and Loverendale / Ter Linde, a biodynamic farm with a farm shop, bakery, breakfast barn, and lunch café.
The historic towns of Domburg, Veere, and Middelburg are also easily accessible. Thanks to Walcheren's extensive cycling network, you can effortlessly discover the coastline, dunes, forests, and villages by bike. For a day trip further afield, the cities of Breda, Ghent, and Antwerp are only about an hour's drive away.
How sustainable is the tiny house?
The BUITENSTUDIOs were designed with a conscious focus on prefabricated construction and a circular, modular approach. The accommodation was developed and built in collaboration with local companies, using as many existing materials and reusable components as possible. For example, parts of an old beer table that was no longer in use have been incorporated into the kitchenette.
The central furniture piece in the sleeping area was also designed according to these principles. Thanks to its modular design, it can easily be adapted, reused, and reintegrated into the material cycle.
The BUITENSTUDIOs are part of the broader sustainability vision of ONS BUITEN. The site features food forest planting, biodiversity-focused nature development, and edible landscape elements. Sustainability is therefore not only visible in the design, but also tangible throughout your stay.
