Veerse Meer
Once a choppy sea inlet, now a water sports paradise
The Veerse Gat was closed in 1961 with the building of the Veerse Gat Dam. This created The Veerse Meer, once a choppy sea inlet, now a water sports paradise for kitesurfing and windsurfing, canoeing, sailing, water skiing, diving, and fishing. Some of the nice towns around the lake are Kortgene, Kamperland, and historical Veere.
